about his Life.
Gendün
Rinpoche was a senior meditation master of the Kagyu Tradition. The 16th Gyalwa
Karmapa requested him in the seventies to teach in Europe. After that he lived in France where he contributed to
the establishment of numerous Buddhist centers.
He passed away in 1998 in Kundreul Ling, France.

The International Karma Kagyü Conference
in New Delhi on March 28th - 30th, 1996, was held upon the initiative of the
16th Karmapa’s monks in Rumtek, India. The conference was held to inform the
public about the events surrounding the recognition of the 16th Karmapa’s
reincarnation. Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche described how he came to recognize Karmapa
Thaye Dorje as the 17th incarnation of H. H. Gyalwa Karmapa. The 16th Karmapa’s
monks reported on the related course of events at Rumtek Monastery. Topga
Rinpoche and Khenpo Chödrak Tenphel informed about the background of the Karmapa
issue. This video presents excerpts from the various speeches of this
conference.

A lecture given in Vienna on November 13, 1998
Thich Nhat Hanh is a Buddhist monk of Vietnamese descent. As a committed
Buddhist, he lectures throughout the world. His long-standing championship of
the causes of peace and social justice have made him widely known. The author of
numerous books, Thich Nhat Hanh lives in exile in France, where he founded and
runs “Plum Village”, a community for Buddhist practitioners. Thich Nhat Hanh’s
very personal manner of explaining Buddhist teachings and methods and his
thorough understanding of the western world make his lectures a special
experience.
This lecture, which took place in the Austria Center Vienna in November 1998,
was organised by the Austrian Buddhist Community. More than 1,000 people came to
see and hear Thich Nhat Hanh. Before and after the lecture, monks and nuns of
Plum Village performed traditional chants.
