The 17th Karmapa’s life is documented ...

Ever since the Karmapa’s arrival in India in 1994, we have been filming him to document his life. We have captured hundreds of hours of film footage in professional quality at official ceremonies, during his meditation sessions, his studies and during his leisure time. Along with the videos we also have an archive of photographs of the Gyalwa Karmapa. And we plan to continue with these projects …

... so that we can all share in his life!

The main aim of this project is to compile an extensive documentary on the Gyalwa Karmapa’s life so that his activities can be shown through videos and movies to a broad public. Already now – some years after the first footage was shot – we can observe how quickly unique events become history. We are only able to  share in his life if it is documented as it goes on. So far, we have released four videos showing the different phases of his childhood and youth. (About us)

Close cooperation with Gyalwa Karmapa and Kunzig Shamarpa

The documentaries are made in close cooperation with the Gyalwa Karmapa himself and the Kunzig Shamarpa. The projects are carried out by “Vienna Dharma Videos” which is a part of the trust “Vienna Dharma Projects”, a non-profit trust based in Vienna, Austria. This trust was set up to support the activities of the  Karma Kagyü Tradition. The work involved is mainly done on a voluntary basis.
