Thursday, July 22: Arrival of Gyalwa Karmapa

Gyalwa Karmapa comes by helicopter to Rivera, the next village in the valley below Bordo. He comes from a visit to Piazzola, a retreat place up in the mountains. The mayor of Rivera, Mr. Pierfranco Midali, welcomes Gyalwa Karmapa.

It is about 20 minutes walk to Bordo, because there is no road up the hill. Accompanied by many followers Gyalwa Karmapa walks up the hill. He is warmest welcomed in Bordo with music, played by the residents.
